The driver involved in a car accident that ended with four people dead has been indicted on negligent homicide charges.

The driver, of Lafayette, Louisiana, now faces up to five years in prison on each of the four counts.

Anti-racing billboards and a resolution in the Legislature have been prompted by the deaths, calling for a public safety campaign to stop street racing.

It is unclear whether there was a race going on at the time the accident occurred on Lafayette’s Ambassador Caffery Parkway.
